Four teams are just one game away from the 2018 Barlows Fire & Security Alan Mayhew Trophy Final. 2015 runners up Burway take on joint record winners Castlefields in the 1st Semi Final. Burway have been impressive in the cups since entering the league, having won the Pool B a few times, and will still want to try and put that one chalk defeat in the 2015 final right. Joint captain Russ Davies says “we are very much looking forward to it, after the last round I would say we surprised a few people with our result. But we know the quality of Castlefields on their day, so we know we will need to play our “A” game tomorrow. Adam Dovey is unavailable due to a local cheese and win evening he hosts on Wednesdays. But other than that a full squad to pick from and hopefully give it a good go and get a result fingers crossed.” Castlefields are flying in the league with 9 straight wins, 11 if you include the previous two rounds, so will be favourites to reach their first final since 2016.<\/p>\n
The other Semi Final sees Sir John Bayley take on Meole Brace. Meole Brace have reached the last two finals, while Sir John Bayley have only ever reached one ever final, in 2002 when they won it. Meole Brace have been up and down so far in the league, with captain Andy Wigginton admitting “even though our form has been poor lately the lads are well up for this game, desperate to get to the final to have something to show for the season. We will have to be better in the home leg than the recent performances on our own soil lately. But at least it should be dry as we have been done big time by the rain in the last two home matches. We will be massive underdogs, especially missing the in form Julian Cooke but we will give it our best.
