PETER FARMER WINS THE TROPHY FOR THE THIRD TIME……

The Premier League Merit, held at Donnington Wood Club, on Sunday 14th August, was won by Peter Farmer (Childs Ercall) for the third time. The competition was sponsored for the first time by “Personnel Resource Centre”.
In a one-sided final, he easily overcame Spencer Clarke (S J Bayley) 21-4. Peter bowled magnificently in the corners and led well end after end. Peter established an early 7-0 lead, and whilst Spencer cut the deficit to 7-3, Peter, took full control and allowed his opponent only one more chalk. Peter first won the Trophy in 1994, in the inaugural Premier League season and ironically also won 21-4 against Ian Lealand. He picked up the first prize of £200, with Spencer receiving £100.
In the semi finals Peter Farmer beat Martin Lloyd (Chester Road) 21 10 and Clarke overcame County Merit winner Mick Jones (Meole Brace) 21 12.

I am pleased to announce that this years Individual Merit will be sponsored by recruitment consultants PRC. Total prize money will now be £640 with £200 to the winner and the qualifying rounds will be played on Friday 28th June (start & scratch 7.00 p.m.) with the last 16 on finals day to take place on Sunday 14th July, commencing at 5.00 p.m.
The venue for the final will be decided on Wednesday 3rd July at the final of the Alan Mayhew Trophy, during which the draw will also be made.
