Wrockites look to continue run, Bayley aim to bounce back, Newport face Dragons test
Wrockwardine Wood will look to continue their winning start against Hanmer at home in week 7 of the Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier Bowling League. They have yet to lose in the league and will look for a good home win to continue that good start, but Hanmer come off their own good win last week against Castlefields. The Fields will aim to bounce back themselves as they host a Bylet side who got a great win against the Champions Sir John Bayley last week. The Champions will hope that was just a blip as they host a Burway side who have started their return season well and are one place above them. Burway joint captain Jesse James is “Looking forward to the game against Bayley, as we go there as one of the “form” teams in the league! I think it’s fair to say they haven’t had the greatest of starts by there own standards, but know they will be looking to bounce back after losing at Bylet, where we had won a few weeks prior.”
Newport face a tough test at home to St Georges as they look to keep away from trouble at the bottom of the table. Captain Ayden Smith knows it is “another tough night for us at home. We need to bounce back from our performance last week. We know they have strength and depth and they have started well. It’s a shame we have a couple of our better players missing but we push on and will always do our best.” The Dragons should have a couple of players back after struggling for a side the last few weeks despite some good results over this period. Bottom side Highley have their own tough game against Hanwood with both teams knowing a win will be a big one at either the bottom or top of the league. Wem USC play Ifton with both teams knowing a good result over fellow rivals could prove vital. Ifton skipper Dickie Jones says “it will be a difficult game on a green where we haven’t won on to often. We have both Leighton and Kieron Roberts unavailable but welcome back Ian Dutton.” Meole Brace have had a great start to the season and will look for a good home win over Chester Road who will look to at least match their 4 at Burway last week.
