Wrockites face Bylet test, Fields, Dragons & Champs all away
Wrockwardine Wood will look for an eighth win out of eight as they travel down the A442 to Bylet in week 8 of the Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier Bowling League. Bylet scored an impressive 9-5 win over the Champions Sir John Bayley in their last home game and will look to repeat that, but this Wrockwardine side is on a roll averaging over 11 a game so far. Castlefields are second and face a trip up to Chester Road, having lost just up the road at Hanmer two weeks ago. Chester Road are in need of the points at the bottom, especially having lost one home game against Hanwood already this season. Skipper Gary Beff knows it is a “tough game against a top team. But we are on a decent run ourselves and hopeful of another good result.” Hanmer will look to repeat that win over Castlefields when they play St Georges, but the visiting Dragons are coming off a fine 12-4 win at Newport. Hanmer captain Mike Gilpin says “after last week’s disappointing result we return to Hanmer looking to get some valuable points on the board and hopefully push ourselves up the table. I’m expecting a tough game against a St Georges side who always seem to play Hanmer well. Beasty boys Matt and Dan return after being away last week.” Sir John Bayley are on their travels to as they go to Meole Brace, who after some good home wins only just got past Chester Road last week, and the Champions will be looking to finally get their season up and running after some poor results. Hanwood will look to bounce back after a poor loss at Highley when they host Wem USC who come off a fine home win over Ifton last week. Ifton themselves will look to improve on that showing as they entertain a Newport side also looking to put behind their home loss last week behind them.
