Top 6 all meet, Bottom 8 all clash
There are some big clashes in week 10 of the Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier Bowling League. The winners from the last 5 seasons meet as Sir John Bayley host Castlefields in a repeat of this year’s Barlows Fire & Security Alan Mayhew Trophy Final which was a classic. Bayley captain Chris Worthington is “hoping for a quiet night, and take any kind of a win to keep us in the top 3. 4 players out though so have to have a close look at my order.” Opposition skipper Adam Jones knows it is a “tough trip to SJB tomorrow evening for us, we will as always look for a positive performance and result! Having played recently in Mayhew final both sides know plenty about each other so should be a good game!” Hanwood host St Georges in another all top 5 clash. Hanwood joint skipper Ash Wellings knows it is “another big challenge for us up against a St Georges side. We’re hoping to take the momentum of the last home game into this one.” St Georges had a great start but have stalled the last couple of games and will want to regain their form to keep in touch at the top. The leaders Wrockwardine Wood bounced back to form last week but face a tough trip to an impressive Burway side especially at home. Joint captain Jesse James says “we look forward to playing the current league leaders, the lads are really up for it and the atmosphere promises to be loud and interesting. One of our aims at the start of the season was to win all our home games and make the Burway a fortress, so far so good and I expect us to maintain that this week. I hope the Wood lads enjoy the night out of Telford and leave knowing they’ve played in a competitive match.”
The bottom eight all meet each other this week. 14th placed Chester Road take on 11th placed Highley with the Road trying to bounce back from the 15-1 defeat they suffered in their last home game, while Highley will look to improve their away form so far this season. 13th side Bylet take on the team directly above them in Newport, with both teams having had some good and bad results this season. 10th placed Hanmer host 8th placed Ifton with both teams having had some good results recently, Hanmer especially at home. The final game sees 7th placed Meole Brace host 9th placed Wem USC, with Meole having had a good start and Wem coming off their best result of the season last week.
