Adderley edge out Horsehay

Adderley edged home in a thriller against Horsehay that went down to the last game. Adderley started with the first winner Dave Bamford 9 but Horsehay hit back. Chris Grocott was down against Gary Whitehall early on, but virtually ran out at the end of his game on little round pegs to win 14. Gareth Jones was 11-1 up against Alex Lockett early on, however Alex got back at him in the corners, before Gareth won 18. Oliver Harris was 13-8 up before winning 18 to give Horsehay a lead of 2. Into the middle and Horsehay captain Andy Garbett won 11 but this was cancelled by Edward Proudlove of Adderley. Jack Hazeldine of Adderley was always ahead against Barry Roden who battled to 16, however Spencer Collins had a strong end to his game across the middle to win 17 and give Horsehay a slim lead of 1 going into the back four. Another 21-9 card by Adderley, by Richard Pullen from 7-2 down on a 3/4 round peg, meant Adderley now led by 11. Gavin Bridge then was 15-3 up for Horsehay, but conversely Chris Elsbury was 15-3 up on Rich Jones for Adderley. Alan Ludlow-Rhodes for Horsehay was always just ahead of Tony Sherratt, and won 18 to bring the deficit to 8. Phil Jones got in the corners against Gavin and got back to 15-11 down, but Rich Jones against Chris was nibbling away at his lead in a tight finish. Gavin got back in and finished off the game 14, but Rich Jones was 20-13 down and had to run out to win the game for Horsehay. He got a 2 and then had two woods within a foot next end over the middle, but Chris played an incredible draw to give Adderley a 7 chalk win.
