Meet our East team below:
1. Martin Gaut (St Georges) – Captain
Martin is our League Secretary but has improved immeasurably over the last few years, playing in competitions all over the country and reaching the final of the Meole Open in 2019. He started off at Wrockwardine Wood before moving to Bowring and then St Georges.
2. Pete Farmer (St Georges)
Pete is our most successful bowler, in terms of overall wins in the league, and has won the Premier League Merit 5 times and League Averages 4 times, as well as numerous other titles including the Shropshire Senior Merit.
3. Tom Roden (Sir John Bayley)
Tom has come back into the game after a few years out, and this year has rediscovered that form that earned him a Senior County spot before his time out. He is a former Premier League Merit winner.
4. Alex Jones (Sir John Bayley)
Alex has been one of the most consistent bowlers in the league since entering the league in 2012, winning the League Averages that year and is on course to add this year’s to it.
5. Jamie King (Wrockwardine Wood)
Jamie is a former League Averages winner in 2021, and has won many titles in his time including the Midland Masters and Newport Open. He has played for St Georges, Hadley USC, Newport, Bowring and now Wrockwardine Wood.
6. Steve Broome (Wrockwardine Wood)
Steve returned to the game full time back in 2021 after spells at Wrockwardine Wood and Sir John Bayley. His form has been at its best ever, which has earned him a spot in the County side.
7. Ayden Smith (Sir John Bayley)
Ayden returned to Sir John Bayley this season after captaining Newport last year. Has played before for the Bowring and Hadley USC. He reached the final of the Newport Open earlier this year.
8. Clay Flattley (St Georges)
Clay has played in our league for a number of years at numerous clubs including Sir John Bayley, Wem USC and Castlefields, winning numerous honours with the latter. Has won plenty of Open Competitions.
