We have 17 players in tomorrow’s Midland Masters at Ye Olde Knowle, starting at 10 a.m. Four of them meet in the first round, with Castlefields’ Paul Williams playing Highley captain Reece Farr, and Sir John Bayley’s Paul Evans taking on Mike Beer from Castlefields. Greg Smith of Wrockwardine Wood is red hot favourite, and plays Adam Stubbs first game, with a potential clash with Pete Farmer of St Georges second round if he overcomes Matt Allen. Shropshire Merit Champion Rich Lawson has our former League Averages winner Pete Cookson, while Gary Cooper of Bylet has a tough opener against former winner Steve Pratt. Gary’s team mate Scott Harries plays Andy Grocock, with Sir John Bayley pair Aaron Tapper and Kevin Hocknull play Ian Brown and Keith Hatzer respectively. Two youngsters from St Georges, Joe Killen and Cody Everitt, have Shane Day and Andrew Owen respectively, while their team mate Clay Flattley plays Max Archer. Two more players from Highley take part, Stu Gittings taking on Phil Clapham and Darrell Handley playing Greg Tatem. Wem USCs Tim Jordan plays Joe Williamson.
