Dennis Lewis Open 2023 Report

Pete Farmer finally got his hands on the Dennis Lewis Open trophy after beating Darren Wellings in the final 14. He was always ahead after being 2-0 down, leading 8-4 and then 13-9. Darren got back to be 13-12 behind but Pete had a break of 7 to be on the verge of victory but got out two ends later to be third time lucky at winning the final in this.

In the Semi Finals Pete beat previous winner Kiah Roberts 17, coming back from 9-6 down in a very close game throughout. Darren had it even closer against former Bayley player Pete Grimston. He was 13-7 up before Pete came back to lead 15-13. Darren got the block back in the corners and led 19-16 but Pete got it back to 20 across before Darren won.

In the Quarter Finals, Kiah had beat former homester Steve Burroughs 11 after a good run at the end from 10-9 up. Pete went from 7 across to lead Josh Cotton 16-7 and won 9. Pete was 13-7 down on Jamie King but pulled out a great bowl and then went onto win 17. Darren was 7-3 down on Elliot McGuinness and then 14-12, but ran out in the corners.
