Bayley face Hanwood trip, Ifton look for away win, Fields look for home comfort again
Leaders Sir John Bayley face a tough trip to Hanwood in week 3 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. They come off a comeback victory against Wrockwardine Wood and a narrow win at Highley, and will be thinking a win is on at a Hanwood side not as strong as it used to be previously. Hanwood though will look forward to the test, and come off a good 5 at Hanmer last Friday. St Georges are in 2nd after an away win against Horsehay last week and host Burway this week looking for a better home result than their 9-5 win over Meole in week 1. Burway have had a solid start themselves and will want to continue that with a good result on the top green. Ifton travel to Bylet looking for their first away win of the season. Captain Dickie Jones said “even though they aren’t as strong as last season we are taking nothing for granted and all points will be hard earned. We will take any sort of win.” The home side had a good start at home with a win over Burway but know this will be a tougher test. Captain Cheryl Caswell said “as always it’s going to be a tough game against a really good team who have strengthened over the Winter. We have no expectations and just aim to enjoy it whilst getting as many points as we can.”
Castlefields will look for another big home win this time over Hanmer, but Hanmer themselves are continuing their good form from last season and have got 7 winners at the Fields before. Highley and Horsehay are both looking for their first win of the season as they play each other knowing a win is needed to kickstart their seasons. Adderley take on Meole Brace looking for their first win of the season after an opening home loss, while Meole come off two good opening results. Wrockwardine Wood will aim for another 12-2 home win this time over Wem USC, who will want to return to their form of the opening week.
