Pool A&B Final Draw & Preview

Pool A:

The Pool A final takes place at 7 p.m. between 8 time winners Castlefields and 5 time winners Sir John Bayley on Sir John Bayley’s top green. Castlefields have won this the last two seasons, with the Bayley winning it the previous two. The Bayley won against Ifton the last time they played on the top green in this in 2015, but know they are facing the League Champions this time round. The Fields will be desperate to do the double and make up for their loss in the Alan Mayhew Trophy. Both teams name strong sides, with two League Averages winners Scott Harries and Mike Beer meeting at number 2.

Castlefields skipper Steve Peach is “looking forward to tonight’s end of season competition and presentation night. It’s been a long season, hopefully we can put in a decent performance but we know we are up against it in the Bayley on one of their greens but we will give it our best shot.”

Bayley captain Reece Farr says “we take on our arch rivals Castlefields in our own back yard. We know its going to be tough having to give them 16 shots on the green were not familiar with, but we are prepared for the task ahead. I’m sure there will be an excellent display of bowling as usual between the 2 teams.”

Castlefields will start 2-0 up in all games and have the jack.

Pool B

Burway take on Meole Brace at 7.15 p.m. looking to win this for a fifth time, while Meole have never won this or the Pool A before, but have reached the final of both before, recently losing in 2023 in the Pool B final at the Bylet.

Burway captain Ben Allen says “the lads are looking forward to the game and we will try to end the season on a high. We had a good result on the Bayley green earlier in the season so hopefully we can play like we did that night.” Opposition skipper Chris Jones says “we look forward to a close final against Burway, a season for them that doesn’t reflect their position in the league. Another improved season for ourselves with some new faces which should hopefully make for an exciting final ahead, best of luck to both sides.”
