Hanmer face Champs, Telford derby, Horsehay aim to build
Hanmer face the Champions and the last unbeaten team in the league Sir John Bayley in week 7 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. Captain Ieuan Pugh says “we know it’s going to be a tough game against a very good side but it’s one we look forward to. We’ve struggled for consistency and seem to be losing the close games so hopefully we can turn that around tomorrow.” The Bayley are yet to lose this season, and narrowly lost at Hanmer last season in one of the few games they did lose, so will be thinking they can overturn that loss this season. Second hosts third as Wrockwardine Wood take on St Georges in a big derby game with both teams in good form. Home captain Rob Jones says it is “always an eagerly anticipated fixture for both local rivals, we’ve both made good starts to the season and will both want to use the fixture to push on, so should be a cracker. We are a couple short and I wouldn’t want to see too much more rain, but we are looking forward to it.” Opposition skipper Josh Bradburn is “really looking forward to the game. Its always a close match between two good teams. I’m sure it will be a good atmosphere and we are excited to get going now.” Castlefields will look to take advantage of the top three all having tough games as they host Burway, who will be wanting to bounce back from their loss last week at home and just 2 at Hanwood recently.
Horsehay will look to build on their win last week when they entertain Ifton tonight. Spokesman Steve Reeves says “we are very much looking forward to welcoming Ifton to the Hoss. Not sure if any of there players will have seen our green before and we don’t know too much about them either. However we’ll be looking to keep the momentum going from our last home game and previous games to get more points on the board. Whatever the result we look forward to sharing a bite to eat and a drink with the Ifton team after the game.” Ifton are in good form now and know they will need to win if they want to push into the top four. Bylet find themselves bottom and entertain an in form Meole Brace side who have had a good record at their green. Highley only beat Meole 8-6 two weeks ago in their last home game and will be looking for a better result as they host Adderley, who themselves look to bounce back from a home loss last week. Hanwood beat Burway 12-2 in their completed game from 3rd May with Glyn Wellings best winner 3 and Rich Lane best winner for the visitors 6, and will look for a similar result at home to Wem USC who come off a good result last week themselves.
