Ifton face leaders, Highley take on Dragons, Hanmer hope for returns
Ifton face the league leaders Sir John Bayley who are still unbeaten in week 9 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. Captain Dickie Jones knows “this will be our hardest home game of the season so far against a Bayley side who haven’t lost yet. We are looking forward to the game and go into the game in good form. We have a full squad to choose from and will be looking to keep our run going.” Second placed Wrockwardine Wood will be looking for a big away win at the Bylet to keep the pressure on the league leaders, while the Bylet will be looking to get as many winners as they can to keep clear of Horsehay, who host a Burway side in excellent form lately and will be looking for a win there. Castlefields will also be looking for a good home win to close the gap to the Bayley, and face a Meole Brace side who will be looking to bounce back from their home defeat last year after a good run themselves. St Georges have dropped down to 5th place and know a win is needed at Highley to catch up with the leading pack. Highley skipper Stu Gittings is “looking forward to hosting St Georges, some very good players and some great guys. It is always a tough match and normally close so expecting the same on Friday. The weather has not been great this week so hope the green is ok. They are my dark horses for a title challenge but we need to win so going all in and hopefully a 9-5 victory!”
Hanmer have struggled for a full team in recent weeks but hopefully will have some players back in time of the visit of Wem USC, who have had some good results lately. Captain Ieuan Pugh says “we’re looking forward to a good game against Wem, a team that know our green well! We’re hoping to get back to from after a few tough weeks. We welcome back a few players to the team.” Hanwood have had a good few weeks and will look for a good win at home to Adderley, who have lost their last four games since they won at Wem USC back in April.
