Fields face unbeaten record, Wrockites have tough trip, Hanmer trip into unknown
Castlefields face breaking an unbeaten home record as they travel to Ifton in week 19 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. Ifton have yet to taste defeat this season at home, and still have a fight to hold onto a place in the top 4. Skipper Dickie Jones says “expecting a tough game against a good side who can still win the league, we will need to be at our best to remain undefeated at home and hold onto 4th spot.” League leaders Sir John Bayley will be looking to move further clear at the top as they entertain the Bylet. Bylet though come off their first win in 17 last week and will have some confidence and momentum going into the game. Wrockwardine Wood are 13 points behind the leaders and need a big win away at Adderley, a place where they lost last season. Skipper Rob Jones says it is “a difficult away trip to a decent home side. We go knowing that we have to win to stay in the chasing pack, but know it won’t be easy.” Adderley come off a solid home win last week over Wem USC, but know this will be a tougher test. St Georges are just 2 points behind Ifton and will know an away win at Wem USC is needed. But Wem have beaten Castlefields and Wrockwardine Wood already this season, and will be looking to add the Dragons as another scalp.
Hanmer face a trip into the unknown with their first visit of Horsehay. Captain Matt Beeston says “we are looking forward to the game. Most of us have never seen the green before but we will go there with no pressure on us.” Horsehay have fallen 11 points behind the Bylet so know a win is a must. Meole Brace take on Highley with 3 points just separating the teams, both looking for a top half finish. Burway currently occupy 7th and are just 7 behind their opponents Hanwood who make the trip down the A49. Both teams have had some excellent results this season, and know whoever has the most consistency may be the ones to finish in the top 6.
