Well done to Shropshire Ladies & Wrockwardine Wood

It has been a great week for some of our women bowlers as Shropshire retained the Ladies County Championship and Wrockwardine Wood won their third straight BCGBLA Club Championship.

The Ladies last Sunday beat Greater Manchester by 83 chalks, winning by 50 at one of our clubs, Wrockwardine Wood, and by 33 away. Ten of the team have played in our league this season: Sally King, Nat Moseley and Louise Cotton of Wrockwardine Wood, St Georges’ Sonya Lucas, Jen Rogers and Tracy Bound of Meole , Jackie Rutter from Sir John Bayley, Wem USC’s Sarah Weaver, Viv Cooper of Burway and Bylet captain Cheryl Caswell.

Yesterday our three Wrockwardine Wood players as well as Sarah Weaver all took part in the Club Championships and helped Wrockwardine win the competition for the third straight year. They came top of their 5 team group, winning all 5 games, and then beat Dearne Sports by 6 chalks in the final, Sally King winning 15-9 and Nat Moseley 15-7 to help give them a good start which they held onto.

Well done to all our ladies for their successes. It caps off a great season with our women bowlers, Cheryl winning the Spring Waterloo and Nat winning the Isle of Man June Festival, both taking part in the Ladies Champion of Champions on Sunday.
