Castlefields meet Ifton in the Pool A final on Meole Brace no.2 at 7 p.m. with both teams looking to end a great season with a trophy. The Fields have won this 6 times, a record, and will aim for a 7th triumph which will mean a Premier League treble having won the Alan Mayhew Trophy and the Premier League already. Stand in captain Jon Palmer says “Friday is the start of an exciting weekend of team bowls for us. We face very dangerous opposition in Ifton that have quality throughout. We have had a great SPBL season, and it would be fantastic to finish it off on a high by winning the league treble.” Ifton have been in two Pool A finals before, in 2015 and 2022, but lost out to Sir John Bayley on both occasions. They’ve also been in a record 10 Pool B finals, winning half of those. Skipper Dickie Jones says “we are looking forward to the final after a great season ourselves. They are a quality side but we’re up for the challenge and look forward to a good night.”
