Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowls League
Good evening and welcome to the October meeting. Thank you all for attending. Hopefully tonight will be a quieter affair than last year’s meeting. Hopefully all 14 clubs will remain for next season although there are some rumours about some clubs losing players and struggling. Hopefully these are just rumours and we will be a 14 strong league again next season. If any club is struggling I would ask them to let us know so we can make contingency plans. Thankfully we do have two clubs from the Play Offs that would step in this time.
Looking back at this season and what a great finale it was. Well done to Castlefields on the league treble and also winning the super cup. I was there on Saturday and it was very proud to see them win, even though I had to remain impartial organising it! Credit also goes to the Bayley who produced a record points total and still missed out in the closest finish the league has ever seen. Well done to Ifton on a top three finish and also to Burway for their highest ever finish in the league, and Adderley for winning two Pool Bs! Well done to Cheryl Caswell on the job she did at Bylet keeping them together this season and not finishing bottom. Final well done goes to Horsehay who produced the biggest shock the league has seen in beating Woore by 8. They’ve proved a lot of people wrong this season, and for me it was right to allow them in. They’ve added something to the league and it was a close battle at the bottom till the last few weeks. I’m sure they will be stronger next season given their year experience.
Well done to Callum Wraight on such a great individual season, winning 24 out of 24 is an incredible feat, and also winning the Merit for the first time. Well done to Paul Evans and Scott Simpson on winning the Mike Hinton Pairs back in April.
