| History of your business: Originally conceived in 1992 and trading as Oasis Mobile Phones from the spare bedroom in the company founder Damian Cole’s house, it wasn’t long before business premises were necessary. With help from Caerphilly Borough Council, a small industrial unit was located in Blackwood in 1996, a limited company, Oasis Communication Services Ltd, was formed in April 1997, quickly followed in June by the first retail store on Blackwood High Street, opened by Welsh rugby star Neil Jenkins. Many new stores and accolades followed. In 1998 winning the Gwent TEC business award for marketing; in 1999 the 10th fastest growing company in Wales and the following year the 2nd fastest growing company in Wales from a total of 51,000 businesses! A stronger brand identity was introduced in 2001 by changing the trading name from Oasis Mobile Phones to Get Connected. In 2005 the Connections Centres chain of 7 retail stores and their corporate team merged with Get Connected through acquisition. Now with a chain of retail stores in Wales and England, a call centre in Blackwood and a corporate sales team based at the Head Office in Abergavenny underlining the position as the UK’s largest privately owned mobile phone retailer, with over 30 years’ experience of getting people connected on all the UK’s major telecommunications services providers! The latest store opened during December 2023 in Market Drayton, Shropshire, continuing the success story into a fourth decade. |
