Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowls League
It is just one day till the start of the 2025 Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League season and it promises to be an exciting battle at the top and bottom again. Reigning and defending Champions Castlefields have strengthened and so have the team they narrowly beat to the title, Sir John Bayley. However the Bayley start the campaign without three key players, but those signings will provide extra strength in depth this season. Behind these two Wrockwardine Wood have signed four new players in order to sustain a title challenge after they faded in the second half last season. Ifton have signed and lost some players as they look for another top three spot.
Below these four teams, it could be anyone’s 5th place. St Georges are facing their toughest season yet, having lost several players, but have added players to replace them, while Hanwood will hope to move up a couple of places with a similar side from last season. Burway had their first top half finish ever in the league, and will look for another with the addition of two players to their squad. Meole Brace are another team to have lost some players so will look to consolidate, while Highley have a very similar squad to last season but a new captain in charge. Hanmer had a tough season last year, but under a trio of captains, they will be looking to return to the top half where they finished in 2023. Wem USC are another with a settled team and will look to improve on last season, but Adderley have had changes in their squad as they look to kick on. The bottom two were adrift last season, and it seems that will be the same again. Bylet are scratting around for a side each week currently, but still have some quality and experience in their squad, while Horsehay are hoping a season in the league will help them, as well as a couple of new players in their team.
