Bylet shocks Wrockites, Bayley whitewash, Adderley win away again
Bylet shocked title hopefuls Wrockwardine Wood 7-7 in week 14 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. Captain Cheryl Caswell says “it was another good result for us. We are probably a little disappointed not to have won one or two more games on the green having had a few close cards but against an enthusiastic Wrockwardine team. I think we gave them a decent game and deserved to get something from it.” Darrell Handley and Rob Renke were best winners 7 for them, while for the visitors it was Josh Cotton 11. Sir John Bayley whitewashed Meole Brace to extend their winning run to 20 games and their lead at the top of the table. Best winner for them was Reece Farr 5. Castlefields defeated St Georges 11-3, led by Adam Jones’ 4 win. For the Dragons it was Joe Killen best winner 9. Ifton also had a good 12-2 win over Horsehay led by Simon Tyler’s 7 win, with Jack Clayton best for the visitors 11.
Adderley earned their second away win of the season with a 11-5 success at Hanmer. Skipper Connor Whitehall says “after some poor results recently we were very pleased with our away performance on Friday. The green was pretty sharp in places but our team handled it well and fought for every chalk, our best performance this season on and off the green. Thanks to Hanmer for their hospitality after the game.” Best winner was Ian Howell 8 with Matt Beeston best for the hosts 4. Burway and Wem USC both won 9-5 against Highley and Hanwood. Best winner for Burway was Richard Lane 8 and for Highley were Dave East and John Heath 13. For Wem it was George Williams, Luke Boniface and Ian Metcalfe best winners 21-6, and Glyn Wellings 14 was best for the away side.
Sir John Bayley are 5 ahead of Castlefields who are 10 ahead of Wrockwardine Wood. Horsehay are 14 behind Hanmer, who are 10 behind Meole Brace. Jon Palmer, Scott Simpson and Owen Jackson are all on 13 wins, and separated by just one chalk! Jamie King has ended his run on 11 wins, being joined by Owen Jackson and Reece Farr.
