Fields Flying, Meole earn first away win, Wem win big
Castlefields were flying in week 15 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League after a great 13-1 win over Wrockwardine Wood. “A fantastic team performance overall, to be 11-0 up against any Wrockwardine side is good going so credit to the lads, Hayden Lewis dug deep from behind against Jamie King, Adie Rowe making his season debut was very good, and Tom Palmer from 12-4 down to win to 17 shows the battling qualities the lads have.” Best winner was Andrew Judson 5, with Martin Williams the winner 19. They only gained a point on Sir John Bayley though, who beat Hanwood 12-2, led by Stuart Rutter and Scott Simpson 21-6. Steve Heighway was best winner for Hanwood 12. Ifton gained on 3rd plcae with a 10-4 success over Burway. Martin Jones was best winner 6, and Paul Williams best for the away side 15. Meole earned their first away win of the season by winning 11-5 at Horsehay. Captain Chris Jones says it was “a great result for the team after some tough results previously. Unfortunate not to pinch a few more points with four ’20’ losers, but will be looking to push on again now.” Chris himself was best winner 9, while Gavin Bridge was the only Horsehay player not to win 20, winning 14. Wem USC won 11-3 against St Georges, Gareth Davies best winner 7 for them and Jon Lyttle 6 for the away side. Hanmer edged out Highley 9-5 and by just 4 chalks. Gareth Foster was their best winner 11, while Danny Statham was best for the visitors 9. Bylet defeated Adderley 8-6 led by captain Cheryl Caswell’s 6 win. Rob Hollins was best for the Adders 12.
Sir John Bayley are 4 ahead of Castlefields, who are 22 clear of Wrockwardine Wood. Horsehay are 18 behind Hanmer, and another 12 adrift of Adderley and Bylet. Scott Simpson, Owen Jackson and Jon Palmer are all on 14 wins, while Dave East has joined Owen Jackson, Reece Farr and Jamie King on 11 consecutive wins.
