Bayley battle Burway, Bylet face Fields, Highley host Ifton
Sir John Bayley travel to Burway in week 18 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League knowing a win is needed to keep up with the league leaders Castlefields. Burway have yet to host any of the top three, and currently sit in 5th, so could play a big part in deciding where the title goes. The Bayley know that the Fields will be looking for their own big win away at Bylet, they are currently averaging over 11 points every away game, but the Bylet have already beaten Wrockwardine Wood and Ifton at home so far. Captain Cheryl Caswell says “it’s another tough game and doesn’t get any tougher than the reigning champs and favourites to retain their title. I am sure that all eyes will be on Castlefields to get a big away win to extend their lead at the top, but whatever happens we look forward to the game which I’m sure will be played in the right spirit throughout.” Wrockwardine Wood had a great win at Hanmer last week and will look for the same as they host Wem USC, who are themselves in good form with three wins in their last four. Ifton are also in good form and travel to a Highley side who will all be playing for their places in the upcoming County Cup Final. Horsehay come off two straight wins and travel to St Georges knowing they should be improving on their no winners last year, but the Dragons will be looking for a big win to try and help finish in the top half. Hanmer are only 8 points above Horsehay and visit Meole Brace who have only won 4 games all season but are 16 points better off than them, albeit having played a game more. Adderley have moved into the top half, their highest placing in the league at this time of the season, and travel to Hanwood who are three points below them with a game in hand and who are well placed for another top six finish.
