Hanmer and Adders shock opponents, Fields keep winning
Hanmer and Adderley shocked their opponents in week 21 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. Hanmer beat league challengers Sir John Bayley 9-5 to inflict only their third defeat of the season. Captain Dave Ellison says “we saved our best performance of the season against the title challengers. We went 3-1 up from the first 4 and 6-2 after 8 blocks. SJB then showed why they are a good side by taking 3 of the last 4 blocks. Mel Jenkins at 12 completely took any pressure off us losing the aggregate (to be best winner 12). When I look at our season I don’t think it was a fluke, it was more actually performing like we can do. With 5 games to go I see no reason why we can’t climb up another 3 or 4 places up the table it Friday is anything to go by.” Best winner for the Bayley was Spencer Clarke 7. Adderley beat Wrockwardine Wood again 8-6 to keep up their winning home record against them. Best winner was Rob Hollins 3, while for the visitors it was Scott Moseley 9. Castlefields took full advantage as they won at Wem USC 11-5. Adam Jones was best winner 9, with the home side’s best being George Williams 10. Horsehay beat Burway 9-5 for their fifth win of the season. Best winner for them was Jack Clayton 4, with Paul Williams best for the away side 11. Ifton had a good 12-2 victory over the Bylet, led by Joe Langford and Ieuan Pugh winning 5. Grant Cooper was best for the visitors 4. Hanwood moved into 5th as they beat rivals Highley 10-4. Best winner was Simon Lane 5, while Danny Statham was best for the away side 8. Meole Brace also won 10-4 against St Georges with Nick Davies best winner 10. Away team captain Martin Gaut was best for them 9.
Castlefields are now 14 ahead of Sir John Bayley who are 21 ahead of Wrockwardine Wood. Horsehay are 20 behind Hanmer, and another four behind Bylet. Scott Simpson is 3 wins ahead of Owen Jackson.
