Week 23 Preview

Fields face biggest test, Adders take on Bayley, Hoss need big win

Castlefields face their biggest test left in the season as they travel to Ifton in week 23 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. Vice captain Jon Palmer says “we face the challenge of going away to Ifton this week, knowing full well the importance of getting a positive result. We are full strength with everybody in the squad available so there’s no excuses as far as we are concerned.” They know a win there will all but seal the league, but Ifton have only lost at home once this season against the Bayley. Ifton captain Dickie Jones says “as always Castlefields will be a hard match but hopefully we can put in a good performance and get the win.” The Bayley will hope to take advantage of any slip up as they travel to Adderley, where they have won both the last two season. Adderley won their last home game against Wrockwardine Wood so know they can beat the teams higher up the table, and Hanmer did beat the Bayley two weeks ago. Horsehay need a big home win against the Bylet to have any chance of catching Hanmer above them, while Bylet are only 11 behind 8th so could end up with their highest finish in the league. Hanmer are at home themselves though, and know two wins in their next two games will see them safe. They take on a Wem USC side though currently in 8th and looking to hold onto it. St Georges are level with them and will look to move above them with a home win against Burway, who are still fighting for 5th place. Hanwood currently hold 5th and host Wrockwardine Wood, with the Wrockites looking to avenge their shock home defeat to Hanwood back in May. Highley sandwich Hanwood and Burway but with just one home game left now they will probably need to win at Meole Brace to have a chance of reaching 5th, they did so last season but that was on the other green. Meole can still get 8th place but need a win to help achieve that.
