Week 7 Preview

Adders aim to tame Wrockites, Bylet face tough Ifton test, Highley aim to stop Fields

Adderley aim to tame league leaders Wrockwardine Wood’s good form in week 7 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. Captain Gary Whitehall says “we welcome Wrockwardine tonight, I reckon they’re top of the league for a good reason and a lot of them know their way to Adderley better than our team so will be a good bit of banter both ways! In our 3 seasons in the prem we’ve always just pinched this fixture and will be trying to do so again. Good bunch of lads and will have a good night whatever.” The team below Adderley, the Bylet, have their own tough test against Ifton, who have had some good wins there in the past, including a 13-3 win there in 2022. However Ifton are yet to win away this season, drawing their last away game at Wem USC. Castlefields have lost top spot but will be looking for the same 14-2 win at Highley as they did last season, however Highley are having another good season, winning their last 3 games. Sir John Bayley will look to gain on the top two as they are at home but face a confident Hanwood side sitting just behind them in 4th. Hanwood will know this is the first big test they’ve had this season though but approach it full of confidence after winning 5 of their first 6 games. Meole Brace host Hanmer with both teams looking to bounce back from just two winners last week, while Wem USC got a great 6 at St Georges and will look for a good home win over Burway, who have struggled away from home so far this season. Woore host St Georges looking to bounce back from their loss at home to Wrockwardine Wood, but know St Georges will have a few players who won’t have seen the green before. The Dragons will look to better the 3 winners they’ve had in each of their three away games so far.
