Week 9 Review

Bayley add to Wrockites Woes, Dragons roar, Ifton gain first away victory

Sir John Bayley added to Wrockwardine Wood’s woes in week 9 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. They beat them 12-2 to perhaps put Wrockwardine out of the title race already. Best winner was Scott Simpson 4, with the away sides being the returning Chris Grocott 9. They even extended their lead at the top as Castlefields could only beat Hanmer 11-3. Callum Wraight was their best winner 8 and Anthony Harper best for the visitors 15. St Georges roared back from their biggest ever home loss last week when beating Bylet 13-3, Nige Evans leading the way 21-7. For Bylet it was Camilla Parsonage best winner 6.

Ifton gained their first away of the season 11-5 at Meole Brace. Captain Dickie Jones says “we played well and I would say we deserved the win after two indifferent performances. Jess Lacey played well to win in the front alongside Ieuan Pugh.” Leighton Roberts was their best winner 6, while Dan Jones was best for the hosts 5. The closest game of the night was at Highley where they just beat Hanwood 8-6 and by 5 chalks. Stuart Gittings was best winner 6, while Mark Shore and Rich Lawson were best winners 12 for the away side. Adderley beat Burway 10-4, Phil Jones best winner 6 for them and Adam Dovey 9 for Burway.

Sir John Bayley are 4 ahead of Castlefields and another 11 ahead of Wrockwardine Wood. Bylet are 14 behind Adderley and another 4 adrift of Burway. Tom Palmer is still unbeaten on 9 wins.
