Meole face Bayley test, Wrockites aim for payback, Teams battle for top half

Meole Brace face a tough Sir John Bayley test in week 17 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. Captain Chris Jones says “we look forward to hosting a star studded team in the Bayley who are strong in depth throughout hoping to keep our run of good home results going.” The Bayley know they need a good win to keep up with league leaders Castlefields who are at home to Adderley, who come off a heavy home defeat to the Bayley last week. Wrockwardine Wood lost at St Georges earlier in the season, and will be eager to reverse that this week in the return fixture. Skipper Liam Stevens says we are “looking forward to tonight, can imagine with the recent weather that The Mecca will be rolling back the years to a bygone era – should be a challenging surface for all. Looking forward to welcoming a number of good friends and hoping we can pay them back for beating us in April.”

Hanmer host Bylet knowing a home win can end any chance of finishing bottom this season, while Bylet need to spring a surprise if they are to catch the teams above. There are some clashes between teams looking for a top half finish. Hanwood host Wem USC, with Hanwood having had some great home form this season while Wem have been up and down lately and know a good result is needed if they wish to finish top half. Highley take on Woore with just 3 points separating the teams as both know they could finish top 5 and earn their best finish in the league. Burway have called off their game with Ifton, a statement will follow from the league next week.
