Wrockites win well, Ifton tame Dragons, Fields further ahead
Wrockwardine Wood won 13-3 at Burway in week 18 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. Captain Liam Stevens says “a really good away win against a side who have shown how dangerous they can be away at SJB this year. Richard Lane versus Chris Grocott was a really high standard game in particular. Our focus is to be just as good in the County Cup Semi Final a week Saturday as Burway have plenty of good players and are more than capable of turning us over.” Best winner for them was Will Childs 7, with the home’s best being Ben Allen 11. Ifton won 12-4 at St Georges to please captain Dickie Jones. “Happy to get another away win, we played well from the off on a green that was very difficult without the jack in hand. Special mention for our Tanners captain Aileen Coleman who came in at the 11th hour and won.” Joey Williams was their best winner 10, with the Dragons’ best being Ian Gaut 8.
Castlefields extended their lead at the top of the table with a 11-5 victory at the Bylet, however will be ruing have four 21-20 losers. The other win for Bylet was John Newey 15, while the Fields’ best was Adam Jones by the same score in a high scoring match. Sir John Bayley could only beat Highley 9-5 despite 6 single figure winners, the best being Spencer Clarke 3. Dave East was best for the visitors 9. Wem USC defeated Hanmer 9-5, Phil Jones their best winner 9 and Lee Peate best for the visitors 13. Adderley also won 9-5 against Meole Brace, led by Ed Proudlove’s 9 win. For Meole it was Craig Wilson best winner 6. Woore will be very happy with their 11-3 win over Hanwood to move into 5th place. Liam Jones was their best winner 3 and Phil Lyttle was Hanwood’s best 6.
Castlefields are 9 ahead of Sir John Bayley and another 13 ahead of Wrockwardine Wood. Bylet are 29 behind St Georges and another 3 adrift of Adderley. Joe Killen has gone above Clay Flattley in the League Averages now, and still leads on 12 consecutive wins.
