Bayley stay in race, Woore win well, Ifton earn biggest away win
Sir John Bayley stayed in the title race in week 22 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. They first beat St Georges 11-3 on Friday, Scott Harries best winner 6 for them and John Cooke best for the Dragons 12. On Sunday morning they nearly lost a 7-1 and 26 shot lead at Hanwood but just held on. Reece Farr was their best winner 10, while Dave Burton was best for the home side 8. Castlefields won their game on Friday 11-3 against Wrockwardine Wood. Ash Wellings was best winner 6, while Steve Roberts was best for the Wrockites 7. Woore had a good 12-2 home win over Burway to move into 5th place. Ian Howell was their best winner 1 with Harry Parsonage best for Burway 13.
Ifton had their best away win of the season 13-3 at Adderley. Captain Dickie Jones was “happy to get a big win away. Our front four played well for us to go 3-1 up, we shared the middle and won all of the back. Congratulations to Sam Bennett who played well to win his first Premier game.” Geraint Williams was best winner 4 for them with Kev Rafferty best for the Adders 10. Bylet had another good home win 10-4 over Wem USC. Brian Walters, Tim Ealey and Ian Hopson were all best winners 10, while Colin Smith was best for Wem 6. Meole Brace beat rivals Hanwood 8-6, Mark Thomas and Tracy Bound leading the way 8. Andy Jones was best for Hanwood 12. Highley defeated Hanmer 10-4, Phil Chester their best winner 8, and Mel Jenkins best for the away side 14.
Castlefields are 7 clear of Sir John Bayley and another 20 ahead of Wrockwardine Wood. Bylet are 29 behind Adderley and another 3 adrift of St Georges. Scott Harries is now one win ahead in the League Averages, and Joe Killen is still ahead on 12 consecutive wins.
