Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowls League
Big night for top two, Battle for 5th and 10th continues
A big night awaits for the top two in week 25 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League. League leaders Castlefields know they could do with winning at 4th placed Ifton, a team that are unbeaten at home this season. But the Fields are unbeaten in 19 and know they are capable of winning there. Captain Steve Peach knows it is “a big night in the title race as we travel to Ifton a place where I believe nobody has won this season, a big big ask but one we are relishing at the business end of the season. It should be a cracker.” Ifton captain Dickie Jones knows “as always Castlefields will be a tough opponent with a team full of good players, we are unbeaten at home so I expect our players to be up for the challenge.” Second placed Sir John Bayley travel to Woore for the first time and also know they need a win to keep in touch with the leaders. Skipper Reece Farr know “this week is massive for the team, we have 2 important games coming up, firstly Woore tomorrow night. We currently find ourselves in a fighting chance of the league with only being 4 points off castlefields. We will be looking to show why we are one of the best teams in the league and close the gap on Castlefields but know that the task will be difficult with our lack of green knowledge and I’m sure Woore will be looking to put up a fight.” Woore know they need the win to help them get 5th place especially with their main rivals Hanwood having two home games left. The first of those is against Hanmer who are one point off 10th place at the moment. Highley are battling Meole Brace for the final spot in the top half and travel to St Georges who are in the hunt for 10th place. Meole visit Wrockwardine Wood who are guaranteed 3rd now. Burway also have two home games left with the first against the Bylet who are consigned to bottom place and a play off which they will want to get into some form for. Adderley are another in the race for 10th but would need a positive result at Wem USC who are pretty much locked in 9th place barring a collapse.
