Bayley close gap, Woore gain vital win, Meole get big win

Sir John Bayley closed the gap at the top of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League to just 4 points. They beat Wem USC 12-2 while Castlefields could only defeat Hanwood 9-5. Scott Simpson and Owen Evans were their best winners 6 with Wem’s Scott Thomas their best 13. Sally King was the Fields’ best 7 while Dave Burton was Castlefields’s best 11. Wrockwardine Wood have virtually sealed 3rd with a 12-4 win at Hanmer. Chris Grocott was their best winner 5 with Matt Beeston and Simon Evans best for the home side 10. Woore gained a vital away win over Bylet 11-5 for their quest to get 5th place. Dan Hand was best winner 6 with home captain Cheryl Caswell the best for them by the same score. That result confirms Bylet finishing bottom of the league.

Meole Brace got a good 12-2 win over Burway. But captain Chris Jones says it was “maybe a tad harsh on our opponents who didn’t have any of the tight games go there way on the night, but a great result for us passing our points total from last year already.” Their best winner was Dan Jones 8 with Paul Williams best winner 12 for the away side. Highley got a good 9-5 win over Ifton led by Dave East’s 8 win. Liam Badwick was best winner for Ifton 10. Adderley also won 9-5 over St Georges. Steffan Williams was best winner 3 while captain Martin Gaut was best for the Dragons 10.

Castlefields are 4 ahead of Sir John Bayley, while Bylet are 35 behind Adderley and finishing bottom of the league. Scott Harries leads by one win in the League Averages.
