Ifton fightback, Woore upset Bayley, Hanwood hammer Hanmer
Ifton fought back in week 25 of the Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowling League to beat Castlefields 9-5. Ifton captain Dickie Jones says it was a “great performance by the lads. To have a start like 4-0 down and by 38 shots and to win 9-5 is a tribute to all that played as we were a few short and had players doubling up.” Oliver Jones was best winner 9 for them with Andy Armstrong best for the Fields 6. The Fields were glad Woore did them a favour and beat their rivals Sir John Bayley 11-3. Woore skipper Dan Hand says “we welcomed the Bayley knowing we were in for a proper test. If we wanted to make a claim for 5th spot we needed to come out with a victory. From 1-12 we were superb. We claimed all first 4 games and never looked back from there. Special mention to Mossy who was unbelievable (to be best winner 3).” Scott Harries was best winner 9 for the Bayley to win the League Averages.
Hanwood beat Hanmer 13-1 to keep themselves in contention for 5th place. Mark Shore was best winner 6 and Rhys Griffiths the winner for Hanmer 17. Burway also recorded a 13-1 win over the Bylet for their best win of the season. Harry Parsonage was best for them 4 with away captain Cheryl Caswell the winner for them 20. Wem USC beat Adderley 11-3, Fred Bailey their best winner 8 and Steve Morrey best for the Adders 5. Wrockwardine Wood defeated Meole Brace 10-4 as Clay Flattley led the way 21-5. For Meole it was Dan Jones best winner 10. Highley won at St Georges 10-6 to keep their hold on the last top half place. Dave Scriven was their best winner 4 while Richard Griggs was best for the Dragons 14.
Castlefields are 6 ahead of Sir John Bayley at the top. Scott Harries has won the League Averages for a second time and Joe Killen has won the Most Consecutive Wins.
