INDIVIDUAL MERIT for the John Coxill Trophy

The Premier League Merit, held at Abbey Bowling Club, Buildwas on Sunday 12th August, was won by James Grimston (Donnington Wood) for the second consecutive time. The competition was sponsored for the first time by “Proactive Personnel” who were ironically introduced to the sponsorship by James himself!
In a one-sided final, he easily overcome Tony Rhodes (St Georges) 21-6. James established an early 5-0 lead, and whilst Tony cut the deficit to 7-5, James, bowling an immaculate length, took control and after leading 11-6, ran out for a 21-6 win. James becomes the first player to retain the trophy and picked up the first prize of £200, with Tony receiving £100.
In the semi finals James Grimston overcame Mark Burroughs (St Georges) 21-18 and Rhodes beat Peter Grimston (Donnington Wood) 21-12.
