Telford Derby, Leaders face tough away trip.
The leaders of the Flowfit Shropshire Premier League Meole Brace face a tough game away at Chester Road. Meole’s away form has been good, apart from when they visited Archibald Worthington, with 10 winners at Bylet and 8 at Castlefields but face a tough game against a team which has picked up since their opening home defeat. Home captain Martin Lloyd knows it will a tough task with “them being full of confidence and on a good run but hopefully if all our lads play to our potential then maybe we can burst their bubble.” Second placed St Georges will look to take advantage with a home game but they face neighbours Wrockwardine Wood in what is always a hotly contested game. Home skipper Tony Rhodes knows “it is a big game with Wrockwardine Wood on a good run with (captain) Stuart Clee having them buzzing. We need to bounce back from last week (3 at Castlefields) and am confident we will as we were close to picking up 2 or 3 more than we did (last week).” Away captain Stuart Clee is “looking forward to the game, as are the lads, as the games between the two sides are always hard fought and there is always an extra edge between the teams being a derby. They have started the season well, but so have we and we are looking forward to the challenge that brings. Our lads have performed all year and I know they will turn up again tomorrow night.”
Third placed Newport will look to close the gap with a home game against Wem USC. Wem have made a solid start to the season but only got one at Meole in their last away game, so Newport will look for a similar score to put pressure on the top two with their formidable home green. Fourth placed Sir John Bayley will also look for a big home win at home to struggling Archibald Worthington, and will look to inspiration from another debutant tomorrow in Paul Yapp, hoping he makes the same impact as Jamie Fletcher did a few weeks ago. But Archie will look to build on their good win over Bowring last week and gain points on the Bylet, who are also down Haygate Road at the Bowring. Bowring have struggled to match their opening home win against the champions at home and will hope they can reproduce that performance again to bring a good home win. But Bylet will be looking for a similar result from their first away game when they got 5 at Ifton down at the Bowring.
Burway have been decent at home this season, averaging 11-3 wins in their 4 home games, but will face a tough game against a resurgent Castlefields buzzing after last week’s good 11-3 home win over St Georges. Ifton will also be looking for a good home win against a Hadley team coming off a poor result against the Bayley last week. Hadley don’t have the best record at Ifton picking up 2 and 3 there the last two years but will hope to reproduce similar results to those at Castlefields and Wrockwardine Wood where they got 5.
