Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowls League
Newport won the 2015 Flowfit Shropshire Premier Bowling League for a record 5th consecutive year, overcoming a slow start to ease ahead of nearest challengers Meole Brace and finish 18 points clear. They missed the first week through a fixture concession by Bylet and only got 4 at Bowring to give them a slow start. They bounced back with 25 points from their next two home games and despite still not winning away scored an excellent 62 points from their next 5 home games to move back into contention. They gained their first away win in their last away game of the 1st half of the season at Chester Road, following it up with a 10-4 win at Bylet. Despite getting only 3 at Burway their home form was strong enough to overhaul Meole Brace and pull clear, with the key 9-5 home win over them by only 16 chalks being the clinching factor. Despite a wobble at Wem where they only scored 2, and saw their lead cut to 11 points, their 6 away at Ifton then a 11-3 home win over Sir John Bayley clinched their 5th straight title. And this was despite them being 27 points worse off than last season!
