Comments:
Wem USC had to rebuilt this season after losing 3 key players back to Castlefields but did this well as they were only 6 points down on last season, however this meant a drop of 4 places to 10th place. Their home form was the key to their season, however they couldn’t go another home season unbeaten as Meole Brace beat 9-5 in August, however they bounced back spectacularly next home game as they beat the Champions Newport 12-2, inflicting their worse defeat of the season and Wem’s best win. Their away form was up and down, scoring 1 at Meole Brace and Newport but then winning at Archibald Worthington 10-4 and inflicting Wrockwardine Wood’s only home defeat winning there 9-5. So despite the low placing it was a good season of consolidation for the Services boys, along with bringing a couple of the younger players through who will be wiser with the year’s experience under their belt.
However they didn’t win a single cup game, losing 1st round of the Alan Mayhew to Chester Road by 34 and then getting a bye in the Pool B to the semi finals where they lost to Burway by 49.
