Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowls League
I will be giving the reports their own post over the next few days for those who were unable to view or download them from the attachments for the AGM.
The first report is from Chairman Mick Jones:
Good evening (ladies and) gentlemen, welcome to the Shropshire Premier Bowling League AGM.
Again we have had another successful year, with Newport making it a record 5th consecutive win.
Meole Brace finished in 2nd place for the 4th consecutive time, pipping Ifton on aggregate, who were also the most improved team.
Congratulations to Hanwood on their return and commiserations to Archibald Worthington.
I note positions 2 – 7 in the league were only separated by 11 points, showing just how competitive our league is.
The Alan Mayhew final was played on a tricky Pontesbury green and after going to the wire, Newport won by one against a very good Burway side.
Stuart Rutter won the individual merit at Allscott, beating Tony Rhodes in the final.
The league averages was won by Robbie Burroughs with 21 wins. He also won the MVP award with 9 nominations.
The most consecutive wins was shared between Rich Lawson (Bowering) and Nicky Jones (Ifton) with 13 wins.
Callum Wraight and Luke Jones (Castlefields) won the doubles.
The Pool A trophy was held at Sir John Bayley and was won by the hosts. Burway lifted the Pool B.
We also had 2 players in the last four of the Midland Masters, Wayne Rogers beating Robbie Burroughs in the semi- final, before losing in the final to Greg Smith, Warwick & Worcester.
