Castlefields secured a place in the Black Tech Ltd Alan Mayhew Finals tonight after comfortably beating Bowring by 29 tonight. They won big at home again, despite having to come off because of a heavy rain shower, with three single figure cards. Callum Wraight and Rich Goddard both won 6 while Glyn Herbert won 8, and with Paul Williams adding a 10 win it was a big home for the Fields. At Bowring the home side overcame a poor start to win by 27. They trailed by 2 after three after Clay Flattley had won 13, but big wins for the home side by Andy Jones 8 and Steve Broome 11 gave them a good win but not good enough. Castlefields will go on to meet either Meole Brace or Chester Road who play next week in the other Semi Final.
In the Flowfit Shropshire Premier Bowling League tonight Wem USC secured a super 6 at Meole Brace, which could be an excellent eight with two 20 losers. Meole stormed out of the blocks winning three out of the first four, led by Colin Beaman 5 and Darren Wellings 8, and with Will Tarrell winning 3 in the middle they stormed 5-1 up with Julian Cooke winning 20 too. But Wem fought back and only dropped one more game, Nige Bound winning 20 and MVP for Meole, with Graham Dulson winning 9 and came within 15 of the aggregate, Scott Thomas gaining another point last on 20 which earned him MVP. The result moves Meole from 9th to 3rd and Wem USC remain 11th but have closed the gap to Chester Road to two chalks.
