Esclusham won the Arthur Land Super Cup on Sunday with several Ifton players in their side. They defeated Thongsbridge by 3 in the final even after having Ifton’s Leighton Roberts having to shoot off for the Grange Doubles pairs finals. Despite having an 8 loser in the first four they only trailed by 17, with Darren Lacey winning 24 and Paul Hallett 30, and when Kieron Roberts won 21 and Craig Griffiths won 18 they led by 6. But Simon Tyler was trailing 15-5 and Carl Roberts lost 27 to mean Esclusham led by 2 overall. But Simon came roaring back and won 30 to win them the game and the trophy.
Esclusham had beaten Newport by 22 in the Semi Finals, after Newport beat St Georges by 40 first game, Pete Farmer the best winning 6. Thongsbridge had beaten Penn by 63 in the Semi Finals, after Penn had beaten last year’s winners King George V by 23 in the 1st round, Wrockwardine Wood’s Martin Gaut the hero winning 13 last on to seal the win.
