Team 25: Hanwood

Hanwood were inaugural members of the Shropshire Premier League in 1994 and after finishing 6th in their first season followed it up in 1995 with a fifth place finish. However they then finished 10th in both the 1996 & 1997 seasons and then withdrew for the 1998 season due to a lack of players.

Hanwood spent many years playing in the Tanners Shropshire Bowling League, being champions the last three seasons. They attempted to re-enter the Premier League for last 5 years but fell at the final hurdle on 3 occasions , once by only three chalks in one of the best playoffs ever against Archibald Worthington at Hadley USC in 2013. But in 2015 they finally made it back to the league, beating Hanmer by 9, Donnington Wood by 36 and Archibald Worthington by 46 to take their place back in the 2016 Shropshire Premier League. They enjoyed a great debut season in the league, recovering from a whitewash first game of the season to finish 5th in the league with 198 points, a record number.
