Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier Bowling League Champions Castlefields head to Fox Lane Leyland tomorrow to take their place in the last eight of the BCGBA World Club Championships. They face a tough first clash though against 2015 winners Thongsbridge on the number 2 green, but captain Mike Beer admits “I know their team and we expect to face a team of county players so it will be very tough. However I feel we are in some good form at the moment and have a chance of upsetting the odds. We have a full strength squad.” If they progress then they will face either Holme or reigning champions King George V.
Sir John Bayley’s Elliot McGuinness is captain of the George side that takes on 2016 winners Parkfield Labour Club on the number 1 green.
