Tuesday 4th October
White Horse, Dawley have won tonight’s play off match against Bridgewater by 28 chalks. They will take the place in the Shropshire Premier League next season as it was also confirmed tonight that Hadley USC remain as runners up in the Mid Shropshire League following a decision given to League Secretary Mark Burroughs during tonight’s match.
The game was evenly contested in both the first and middle fours but White Horse finished the stronger and with captain Phil Craggs winning 21-13 at No. 11 the glory went to the Telford based side.
After the first four games White Horse led by 7 with Pete Dunkley winning 21-13. However Alan Clive won 21-12 for Bridgewater and this put them 2 up and with Steve Pace also winning 21-15, the hopes of a North Shropshire win were heightened. The best card of the night 21-11 by White Horse’s Nigel Barnes put them back in front by 6 after 8 blocks and it was all to play for. White Horse finished with the last four winners and the noisy Telford fans were soon celebrating a famous win.

Tuesday 27th September
White Horse (Highley League) will play Bridgewater (Malpas League winner and now Whitchurch League winners) in the first and maybe only playoff match next Tuesday (4th October) at Ford bowling Club commencing at 7.00 pm. On the same night the Mid Shropshire League Executive will decide the fate of Hadley USC, who are awaiting a League ruling on whether points will be deducted from champions St Georges and make them league winners. If St Georges remain as Mid Shropshire first division champions, then Hadley will not be eligible to compete in the playoffs and the winners of White Horse/Bridgewater will take the 14th place in the Shropshire Premier League. If Hadley are successful, then a further two matches will be played, with the losers meeting Hadley first and then a potential winner takes all clash the following week. I have requested an undertaking from the Mid Shropshire League that the decision is made prior to the end of the match and communicated to me at Ford. The referee for the White Horse/Bridgewater match will be Dave Card.
