Good luck to Castlefields

Castlefields look to go one better than last year as they start their BCGBA World Club Championship campaign today at Spen Victoria. They have a tough draw though, playing local team Lower Hopton, featuring Graeme Wilson, Robert Hitchen and former Shropshire County player Ian Booth. Captain Alan Peach comments “to be honest it will be a very difficult game against basically homesters. But we are not going there to lie down, we can only give it our best shot!” Castlefields are without some of their regulars, but will still take a decent side up there. If they win they will play either Tixall or Esclusham, the latter will be featuring some players from Ifton. M&B Cheslyn Hay will also have Sir John Bayley pair Gordon Hawkins and Chris Ward, and Highley’s Jack Hill and Dave East playing for them. They play Pudsey of Yorkshire in their first game.
