Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowls League
The Seaton Sports Merit now has 16 qualifiers ready to battle on Sunday 21st July. The report on each qualifier is below.
Chester Road
Leighton Roberts qualified at the first time of asking after beating team mate Nicky Jones 9 and Wayne Phillips 14. Rich Lawson also got through as he looks to add this competition by getting past Dave Ellison 17 and Colin Beaman 16. Jack Hewitt qualified by defeating Ade Jennings 20 and Will Tyler 14, while Jon Lyttle got through by beating Dave Redge 17.

Meole Brace
Two Burway and two Castlefields players got through at Meole. Former winner Mike Beer qualified by beating Paul Latham 11 and team mate Adam Jones 6. His team mate Adie Rowe got past Chris Nicholson 14 and team mate Paul Williams 6. Two Burway Shropshire Merit winners qualified, with Wayne Rogers beating Gary Beff 14 and Kiah Roberts winning two games to 20 against two Wellings’, Darren and then Ash.

Newport
Highley had their first qualifier in this competition as Darrell Handley beat Rob Carter 20 and former winner Dale Downes 17. St Georges pairing Mike Wainwright and Lewis Scott qualified. Mike beat team mate Pete Grimston 17 and then Tom Roden 15, and Lewis got past Stuart Gittings 16 and team mate Tony Rhodes 12. Rob Jones was the other qualifier by beating Andy Morgan.

Sir John Bayley
Record winner Pete Farmer qualified after a tough tussle with team mate Dave Rhodes, who he edged out 19. Former runner up Jamie King got through after beating current holder Stuart Rutter 17 and Rob Fuller 9, with his team mate Liam Stevens getting through also by getting past Dave Lloyd 17 and Dale Rudrum 15. Simon Rhodes beat Russ Pegram 18 in a close game to be the other qualifier.
