Jamie King won the 2019 Midland Masters to take the trophy and with it a place in the Champion of Champions. He beat Wrockwardine Wood team mate and good friend Stuart Rutter in the final 11 after leading 15-7 on Prees. In the Semi Finals he beat Stuart Perry 14, making the most of an 8-3 and 13-7 lead, while Stuart defeated John Dewey 18 after leading 12-5 and 14-7. Jamie had his closest call in the Quarter Finals after getting past Adam Jackson 20, with Stuart defeating Chester Road’s Gary Beff 14, and Wayne Rogers of Burway losing out to Stuart Perry 11. Jamie had got past the in form Scott Simpson of Sir John Bayley 14 after beating Ivan Smout 12 and Leigh Burdett 11. Stuart beat Danny Sillitoe 14, Shane Day 17 and Adam Dickerson 7, while Wayne had got past Mark Blackmore 9, Andy Milsom 20 and Hanwood’s Ash Wellings 6, Ash having defeated Joe Brown 7 after receiving a walkover first game. Scott Simpson had got past Chris Kearns 12 and David Ord 18, while Gary Beff had beaten Darren Clews 10, John Hambleton 11 and Dave Semper 15. Newport’s Pete Farmer lost out at the same stage to John Dewey 10 after getting past Phil Owen 13 and Ian Hickey 11.
