Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowls League
On this day last season Sir John Bayley sealed a second league title after gaining the 3 winners they needed at Hanwood. It wasn’t enough for Hanwood to move up from 5th place, as Newport pipped St Georges on Games Won after getting 4 at the Bylet while St Georges got 6 at Wem USC, which meant Wem finished in 7th and sealed a place in the Pool A. 2nd placed Castlefields beat Wrockwardine Wood 10-4, while Hanmer just beat Meole Brace by 2 with 5 winners. Ifton had a good 11-3 victory over Burway to lift them a place above Hanmer, and Highley beat bottom side Chester Road 9-5 to cap off a great first season in finishing 8th.
Pete Cookson made history in becoming the first Staffordshire player to win the League Averages in only his second season in the league.
