Champs face Wrockites test, Fields aim to bounce back
Champions Sir John Bayley face their toughest test of the season so far as they head to leaders Wrockwardine Wood in week 13 of the Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier Bowling League. They haven’t been in the best of form so far this season, finding themselves 33 points off the leaders. Captain Chris Worthington admits “we haven’t had the best of seasons so far, and we head to a team who are flying and will be tough to get anything from.” Wrockites skipper Rob Jones says “we entertain the reigning champions tomorrow in what should be a good competitive game. We are playing well and hope to carry our recent form into another big game.” Castlefields will look to take advantage of that game by winning at Highley, but the home side needs the points themselves at the bottom. Bylet are in need of points too, and face a tough trip to Ifton who have been playing well lately. Wem USC will look to overtake Chester Road as they host them, but the Road coming off an amazing 13-1 win last week. Newport are another team with confidence after 5 winners at Hanmer last week, and will be looking for a good home win over Meole Brace. Meole have been good at home but struggled away, and know this will need to improve for a top 6 finish this season. Burway are another who will fancy a top 6 finish, but have a tough trip to St Georges, who will be reeling from having one winner at Chester Road last week. Hanwood host Hanmer hoping for a big win to close the gap at the top, while Hanmer know their away form will need to get better if they are to stay clear of trouble.
