Taylor Support Shropshire Premier Bowls League
The Junior Merit takes place tomorrow at our Champions Sir John Bayley as chosen by our representative as Deputy County President Mick Jones. There has been many players who have won this competition who play in our league, including last year’s winner Joe Killen, who moved over to Newport this season. He will be one of the main contenders tomorrow, along with brother Tom, especially as they will know the green well. Overall, around 80% of the winners since 1974 have gone on to play in the Premier League, with 15 of those currently playing in the league, with Rich Goddard the first winner having won it in 1981. 7 of those players have gone onto win the Senior Merit as well.
The action starts at 10 a.m. and who knows, the winner of tomorrow’s Merit may go onto play in our league in future years and be one of those 7 who enjoy success in the Senior Merit as well!
We will be looking at providing some mementos to the players who took part.
