Burway face Hanwood test, Bayley have Dragons test, Top two and bottom two at home
Burway face a home visit from Hanwood in week 15 of the Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier Bowling League. They have done well so far at home, and joint captain Jesse James says “we welcome the Hanwood lads to Bromfield Road. With the weather we’ve recently had you could say the green will play to their strengths, unless we turn the water system on. Or have we already? In all seriousness looking at Hanwood’s away form it should be a tight battle. Not sure if now is a good time to play them after their rare home loss last week. All we can do is concentrate on our own performance and see what happens. We will take any form of win and will be disappointed if we lose at home for a second time this season.” Sir John Bayley moved into 3rd ahead of Hanwood last week and will look to keep ahead of them as they entertain St Georges, who are in 5th place. Both teams had good wins last week, so go into the game in good form. The top two have home games and will look to try and gain on their rivals. 2nd placed Castlefields host Wem USC, who have struggled away from home so far this season, and leaders Wrockwardine Wood take on Highley. Wrockites skipper Rob Jones says we are “looking forward to welcoming Highley to Wrockwardine, a game that gives us a great opportunity to add to our points tally.
Not sure about any scores that need to be settled to be honest, but safe to say I’ll be making sure all my players have been properly registered before playing them on the night.” The two sides who occupy the bottom two will be looking for a good home win this week. Bottom placed Bylet take on Hanmer, who are unbeaten at home but haven’t done so well away so far, while Chester Road host Newport, who have been in good form lately. Meole Brace play Ifton with both teams looking at a top 6 finish given their recent good form, especially at home for Meole.
