Dennis Lewis Open & Mixed Doubles Reports

Salop Leisure Shropshire Premier Bowling League leaders Wrockwardine Wood dominated the two competitions held at Sir John Bayley, winning both of them. Dan Taylor won the Dennis Lewis Open 21-20, a day after losing in the final with wife Jodie against team mate Jamie & Sally King by the same score. Dan beat St Georges’ Pete Farmer in the final, having fended off a fightback from him after racing 14-5 up before Pete got back to 14 across on a longer mark. Pete then led 18-15 before Dan went 20-18 up but Pete got back to 20 across, however Dan prevailed on the final end. In the Semi Finals Dan had beaten Conor Chamberlain 10, while Pete got past Grant Cooper 14, having a good run from 13-12 down. The Quarter Finals saw Dan have his biggest challenge against Mixed Doubles’ winner Jamie King, trailing 9-3 and 17-10 before a break of eight helped him home 19. Pete beat Karl Shanks 16 in his Quarter, while Grant defeated previous winner Stu Rutter 13, having led 10-4, and Conor got past Ryan Prosser 17 in a close game throughout.

The day before saw Jamie & Sally King win the Mixed Doubles, beating Geoff Telford and Nicola Boulton 17 in the Semi Finals, and Jodie and Dan defeated clubmates Helen Clee & John Clarke 14.
